Moments With God

Vincentian Retreat Centre, Melbourne

Description

'Moments with God' is an invitation to develop a personal relationship with God. Christianity is all about relationships. We have Our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, whose relationship is a model for us. For many religions, God is considered as a Power, but for us Christians God is a relationship.

Jesus used to go to the mountain to be with the Father in prayer. Thus, developing a deep relationship. Before making important decisions in life, Jesus prayed. For example, before choosing the disciples, Jesus spent time in prayer (Luke 6:12-16), before taking the Cross onto Calvary, He prayed in the garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:39-46). Hence, prayer enables us to make the right decisions in life. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2700), prayer is the disposition of our heart "by words mental or vocal, our prayer takes flesh, yet it is most important that our hearts are to be present to Him to whom we are speaking in prayer. Whether or not our prayer is heard, depends not on the number of words but on the fervour of souls."

'Moments with God' is a prayer book that consists of prayers traditionally used in the Catholic Church. These prayers are collected from different Catholic sources, prayer books, journals and Catholic websites etc.
